Parker, Colorado is a very active community with festivals and carnivals throughout the year. Parker has recently completed it's very own "Challenger Park Community Recreation Center" with indoor pool and exercise equipment and outdoor ball fields and roller hockey rinks. Just like most of the Denver Metro area, Parker has wonderful paved biking and walking paths throughout the community. These paths conveniently connect neighborhoods, parks and shopping centers. Parker is a great place to live if you are looking for a little elbow room and want to escape the hustle of Denver when you get home from work.

Old timers will usually tell you that there used to more horses in Parker than people. Luckily for us, there still are a lot of horses!

History
Parker's very modest beginning came in 1860, when a one-room shack was moved from Pine Grove to Cherry Creek to serve as a stage stop called the Twenty Mile House...approximately 20 miles from the origination point of the Butterfield Stage. The humble little shack grew into a 10-room inn and eventually became a major stopping point for the railroad in 1882, under the ownership of James S. Parker.

Growth
As the Denver metro area grew, the Parker hills attracted developers, planners and new residents that wanted a country lifestyle with modern amenities. Over the past twenty years, Parker has transformed from the rural equestrian capital of Colorado to an exciting small town with beautiful open space and well-planned residential and commercial developments. Quick access to E-470, Interstate 25 and the Denver Technological Center has been a major attraction for Parker residents.

Highways
Parker is located in northeast Douglas County approximately five miles east of I-25 and Lincoln Avenue, and the E-470 Expressway runs through the northern area of town. The commutes to the Meridian, Inverness, and Denver Tech Center business parks are 15 to 20 minutes via the E-470 Expressway.

The commute to Denver averages 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic.
